U S officials say the Soviet Union may suspend Geneva disarmament talks until after the U S presidential election. Moscow suspects no real progress while Eisenhower remains in office and has floated shelving the three power nuclear test talks until November.
Corry resident James Conroe was sent to the Allegheny Workhouse in Pittsburgh for six months to a year after a conviction for malicious mischief. He slash damaged a Warren man’s convertible top and was linked to earlier trouble at Mead Park, with restitution set at 75 dollars to the Mead Park Association to be shared with Dennis Beardsley. Beardsley and an unidentified woman were present. payment begins six months from now, per Warren County court action. A separate note from Springfield, New Jersey reports pedestrian Nicholas Bremey, 85, identified as the victim of a Tuesday truck strike. driver Karl Einsele Jr, 26, of Forks Township, Pennsylvania, faces investigation.
FENSAUULA AP A toothless Pensacola cab driver Jim Ferguson ate seven fried chickens in an all you can eat deal at a local drugstore. He told the fountain manager to start frying and not stop. Major Jimmerson joked the chickens would be free if he ate them all. Ferguson said he had no tooth left and found it hard to get the meat off the bones after two hours of eating.
Harborcreek Township boy Ronald Bowers, 8, had two left toes severed when his foot was caught in a power mower. He was admitted to Barnet Hospital in good condition, after slipping while picking up a stick in the yard. father reported the incident occurred yesterday morning. In Allentown, Maj. Gen. Charles C. Curtis, 66, advertising director and former Pennsylvania National Guard commander, died at Sacred Heart Hospital after a coronary thrombosus.
Corry officials consider raising sewage disposal charges after Safety Director Ray Weber urged an engineering firm to study rates versus budget and explore linking sewer fees to water consumption. Council learned Loveland, a tested sewage plant operator, may be recruited despite no current opening. Two overcharge cases appeared, with Connie's grocery refunded for five years and Thompson saw mill slated for further inquiry.
Paul Tritch, 32, of Fairbanks, plunged 8000 feet to his death near the University of Alaska Experimental Farm after attempting a baton pass with parachutist Robert Sinclair during a jump. Sinclair, also from Fairbanks, said Tritch failed to open his chute as they spiraled toward the ground.

Police seek two youths who at midnight Wednesday tried to attack a motorist stopped at a traffic light. Ronald Dodge of Erie, 20, said the pair jumped from another car, broke a window wing, and sped away in their own car after attempting to open his door. He provided the scene number and believes he recognized the suspects.
The Corry Driving Range opened this week near Route 6, one mile west of Corry. It features 14 tees and a 350 yard straightaway and operates daily from noon to midnight. Floodlights illuminate the course at night with eight batteries powering the lighting.
In Gosberg Pennsylvania a 14 year old Akron Ohio ex waitress was found guilty of first degree murder for smothering her son aged three in a Cresson motel on August 7 1958. A six twelve jurors sentenced her to life imprisonment. The verdict matched her prior trial outcome. The defense claimed temporary insanity and psychiatrists disputed her mental state. A new trial had been ordered but the sentence was automatically delayed while counsel sought the new trial.
Leftist demonstrators, led by Socialists, urged nullification of the Japan US security treaty. Events included a memorial for Michiko Karba, protests planned in factories and shops, and a large night rally around Parliament. Prime Minister Kishi signaled resignation but delayed a successor, dodging a caretaker cabinet.
State Police report a pig fell from a truck on Route 6 near Columbus. Officers gathered the porker, held at Stockton slaughterhouse in Columbus until the owner or buyer from Union City claims it. the pig’s fate remains pending.

Walters crushed her in the driveway of her home in Erie The accident occurred around 7 10 p m as her father Edward Brown a home contractor and Walters a carpenter moved his car from the driveway The car dragged the infant several feet before stopping at the curb near the sidewalk Walters said he did not see a bump and police note the left side of the baby's head was crushed The coroner plans an investigation and officers say the incident was on private property not a city traffic fatality The Browns were visiting with Walters and his wife when the tragedy occurred
Fidel Castro warned that Cuba would confiscate all US business interests if Washington cuts the Cuban sugar quota. He called the proposed US authority to cut the quota economic aggression and a knife thrust in the chest. Castro vowed response while noting US investments in Cuba once totaled about a billion dollars, with about a third already nationalized.
The National Science Foundation awarded 500000 dollars to establish a National Center of Atmospheric Research to study weather mysteries. Dr Walter Orr Roberts of the High Altitude Observatory in Boulder Colorado will head the center, run by fourteen universities, with Penn State among members. No site has been chosen.

Clifford Buesink sold the West Smith Street Ford agency in Franklin to Carl Triola and James P. Nordstrom. The pair take over operations immediately, having run the Franklin Ford agency for eight years and the Mercury dealership for five. Buesink retains the building. Tricia plans relocation to Corry and he will oversee the dealership.
There is no new development in the six day strike by 360 Pennsylvania Gas Co. workers led by unions. Neil Donovan, VP, says the walkout began after failed talks on a pay increase. Workers seek a package contract totaling 125 cents per hour, including 11 cents. company offers 10 cents. Strikers target Warr en, Elk, and Jefferson counties plus Corry, Erie and Jamestown installations.
City Council authorized Streets Director J R Dearing to advertise for bids on a new bulldozer for use at the landfill site on West Smith street extension. Bids expected to top 14000 will be opened at the meeting on July 18. The council will also decide Mend Avenue sidewalk route from Mound street to Columbus events after surveying the area.
