Union City settles waste problems by approving a contract with Paul Hunter owner of the local disposal company. The deal includes a $1500 payment for the privilege of collector duties and a user fee schedule for dump entry. Howard Palmer will maintain the dump for 30 5 weeks to meet county health standards.
A Boeing built eight jet experimental bomber of the Strategic Air Command crashed during a low level test flight 35 miles east of a central Oregon town. Five crew members died: pilot Lewis Moore 44 of Kirkland Washington co pilot Joseph Keller Bellevue Washington navigator Gerald Green 37 of Kent Washington and flight engineers Charles Mc Daniel 29 of Seattle and Neil Johnson 29 of Seattle.
In New York, steel negotiators enter a decisive phase amid seven weeks of stalemate as a July 1 strike deadline nears. Union and industry leaders trade guarded remarks, with R Conrad Cooper of U S Steel and Steelworkers President David J McDonald noting no acceptable offers and no money offers from the industry.

Jensen, a Bennet schoolboy, was among 10 Starkweather victims during January 1958 rampage. A month earlier he killed a filling station attendant.
Sixteen hours of rioting at the federal prison hospital in Springfield Missouri ended with hostages taken in the 10 North section. Leonard Appleby a guard described threats from inmates including Earl Taylor and others identified as riot leaders. The warden intervened and prisoners expressed no clear demands, leaving the incident with no casualties reported.
Cecil Smith of Meadville backed a heavy dozer over his 5 year old daughter Darlene Faye Smith near the family home while excavating a pond. The child rode briefly, asked for water, and later died at Spencer Hospital from a fractured skull and broken neck. Deputy Coroner Dr Daniel D Maloney ruled the death accidental.
A fog related crash occurred on the Corry Spar Town road near Corry yesterday afternoon. Driver John Bolan of Spartansburg lost control and struck guard posts. Bolan, not injured, remained at the scene. A passenger suffered $200 in damages.
