Vote totals and turnout implications for 1952 election
A survey of turnout beliefs and historical patterns shows heavy turnout favored Democrats in some views, with estimates of 40 million Democrats, 26 million Republicans, and 24 million independents if 45 to vote. It notes Truman’s critique of 1948 turnout, Moley’s view that Democrats win when the vote is law, and Gross’s caution that high turnout does not guarantee Democratic gains. The article cites Census Bureau projections of 8 million of voting age, an expected 5 million actual vote total, historical turnout records, gender gaps, and election day as a legal holiday in most states.

County Considers Buying City Assessment Data
Erie County weighs a four year reassessment plan and a proposal to buy city assessment data from Cole Layer Trumble Co. City Finance Director Michael Cannaving proposes the deal while County Assessor Martin Gregor would copy city data but sell his own valuations. The plan would require county access to city records and raise questions about data use. A separate item notes a bombardment division with two jet bomber wings and 4,000 employees valued at about 120 million dollars.
