Train Crash At Veracruz Station Kills 10

A runaway electric train crashed into a crowd at Mattrata Point near Orizaba, Veracruz, killing ten and injuring twenty. About 25 people were unaccounted for as the train, on a run from Orizaba to Veracruz port, reportedly surged out of control after a power failure. Brakes reportedly failed and witnesses described attempts to derail the train.

Bethlehem Lass to Represent Pennslyvania in Miss America Finals

Rosalie Lamley, 20, of Bethlehem, will represent Pennsylvania in the Miss America finals in Atlantic City this September. Judges picked Lamley Saturday night at West Chester, naming her Miss Pennsylvania. runner-up was Alice Engelman of Altoona. Lamley, 5 ft 6 in, 120 pounds, 36-23-36, is a Penn State Thespians choreographer who entered as Miss Lehigh Valley.

Five Safecrackers Nabbed After Erie Bank Robbery

Close police surveillance since last week's Erie bank robbery led to the capture of five suspects, William Wedzik Walter Shampo e David Watkins Gregory Canary and Samuel Snyder. Germans Seek 3095 To Free GI Prisoners

Berlin reports East German Communists demanded 33 095 dollars to secure the return of nine American soldiers held in the Soviet Zone since June 1. Talks centered on payment for room and board and on signing protocols by a U S State Department designated representative. District Judge Rules 242-Year Suspension At Little Rock

District Judge Harry J. Lemley denied stay motions to his order suspending school desegregation at Central High for 32 years. Hungarian Refugees Riot Outside Soviet Embassy in NYC

Hungarian refugees demonstrated outside the Soviet delegation to the United Nations in Manhattan. They tried to breach police lines, smashed three windows, injuring several officers and pickets. Adams Declines Governor Bid in New Hampshire Primary

Bancuca Ron and Sherman Adams today declined an invitation to seek the Republican gubernatorial nomination in New Hampshire. Family Of Five Escapes Serious Injury In Crash

State Police report a two-vehicle crash near the Corry substation at 12 10 p m involving a Kennedy family car from Chicago and a Parkhurst truck. Patrick Kennedy 35, and Craig Parkhurst 16, escaped injury though Clara Kennedy 31 suffered forehead abrasions and knee contusions.
