Controller opposes county tax hike despite postwar plans
County Controller Harvey M. Willis forecast that Erie County can maintain the current seven mill tax rate into 1945, barring unexpected expenses. He cited Bart on Kauffman’s warnings of depleted reserves but suggested the department can operate within budget and possible bond financing for postwar hospital expansion.
