Jackson and Sawhill Clash on Oil Prices and Energy Policy
Senator Henry Jackson and administration energy chief John Sawhill sharply differ on oil price policy and market regulation. Jackson urges immediate rollback to spur exploration, while Sawhill opposes price cuts to avoid dampening domestic oil development. Jackson warns of oil industry misalignment with public interest and pushes federal controls to enforce responsibility. He also questions nuclear policy after India's atomic test and calls for tighter reactor safety and standardization.
