West End Residents Press Sidewalk Improvements
Twenty five West End residents petitioned City Council for sidewalk repair and new walks along West Main and West Pleasant streets. Martin Cassidy led the delegation urging improvements in front of the former Hammond property and the surrounding blocks. A survey will itemize costs for next meeting to gauge financing and private-property obstacles.

Injuries Fatal for 10 Former Ridgway Man
A group of men from Ridgway and nearby towns were injured in a crash near DuBois after attending a firemen's dry drill. Tony McDowell, 52, of Lanes Mills, died from the injuries suffered in the incident. Albert McCurdy, 27, of the county, is recovering from injuries. The party had been returning home when their vehicle left the highway and struck a retaining wall.
