Farm real estate prices steady after long decline

Pennsylvania farm real estate values show no further decline from March 1 1933 to the same date in 1934 with the index holding steady at 78. Activity remains quiet with demand for small low priced farms and foreclosures or estate settlements common. Some areas report improving values due to better highways and farm product prices, while tax burdens and credit conditions temper gains. Greater optimism exists as business conditions improve and farm prices stabilize, potentially boosting activity.
