Avery B. Chereton, president of Consumers Home Equipment Co. of Detroit, was sentenced to one year in a penal institution and the corporation fined $2,500 for violating Regulation W. Judge Ernest A. O'Brien found both guilty of breaching an injunction prohibiting installment sales without the required down payment. The sentence runs concurrent with a separate OPA violation sentence. The firm operates in the Fourth Federal Reserve District and sells merchandise on installment plans.
