Gun Party Sends One To Hospital In Stomach Wounding
A gun party in Albioh County left 27 year old Albildh man Donald Matthews hospitalized at Warren Cetera Hospital after a bullet pierced his abdomen. Attorneys for Arthur Miller husband of Marilyn Monroe argued the Watkins decision affects Miller's contempt of Congress case. They would seek reversal in U S District Court. Miller was convicted May 21 for refusing to identify Communist writers he knew in New York in 1947. The Calif ornia Communist defendants were convicted in 1952 under the Smith Act for plotting violent overthrow. Justice Harlan said the act does not criminalize abstract advocacy. Smith bitterly said he does not recall any ruling that Communists are at fault.
