Representatives of the Kelly and Miller Brothers Circus indicated interest in performing in Corry on July 11. Telegram advance boasted the show would feature the largest varied and costly menagerie in American circuses with 21 elephants and many other exotic animals.
Paris reports former Premier Andre Marie agreed after five days of talks to attempt forming a new cabinet the nineteenth since liberation. Marie is the seventh man to be asked to organize a new government since Premier Rene Mayer resigned May 21. Three previous candidates were voted down by the National Assembly and three others refused to seek assembly approval.
President Eisenhower nominated James S. Kemper to be ambassador to Brazil, M. Robert Guggenheim to Portugal, and L. Corrin Strong to Norway. Kemper 66 former treasurer of the Republican National Committee. Guggenheim 68 retired from business. Strong 60 president of the Hattie M. Strong Foundation. Lightning travels from ground to cloud and from cloud to ground.
Budd 26 and Henderson 26 from Pittsburgh face murder charges in the Butler County home killing of Mrs Aline Storch. Judge Gratz denied details as they were public knowledge from news reports. State says Ernest Storety, husband, hired them and Richard Haines to commit the murder for 3500 with a promised 1500 later. Budd and Henderson scheduled for trial, others involved named. Experts note farm waller system capacity 300 to 500 gallons daily.
Pittsburgh report says five communists charged with conspiring to advocate violent overthrow of the government had their trial delayed by one month. Judge Rabe F. P. Marsh granted the postponement to allow attorney Hebben Terris of New York to prepare the defense for Steve Nelson former Western Pennsylvania party chairman, and aides Benjamin Carreathers Irving Weissman William Albertson and James Dolsen.
Poland proposed asylum for Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, condemned for atomic spying, if the United States would lift their death sentences and permit them to go to Poland. The Polish Embassy presented a note to the U S Embassy in Warsaw stating the offer, reportedly at the Red Cross’s suggestion.
