Boater Rescued After Lakeside Park Incident
Mayville reporting Hartheld malt saved from drowning when boat overturned at Lakeside Park. Alwyn Shepard, 42, told Chautauqua Lake Commissioner Joseph Dornberger that a failing outboard caused the bow to submerge. Three men from the nearby boat yard rescued him after about six feet of water.

Charles Tate Dies at Home in Corry City
Charles Tate aged 49 of Wrage Street died suddenly this morning at 8 20. He was born in Albion March 20 1876 and lived in Meadville before moving to Corry in 1905. He worked for Erie Bulletin Company as a railroad inspector from 1902 until retirement in 1948 after 43 years. He attended St Thomas Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and the Loyal Order of Foresters. Surviving are his wife Katharine Tate son Donald Tate nephew Merle Beige and several relatives. Funeral arrangements are incomplete with interment at Pine Grove Cemetery and a requiem Mass to be said Monday at 4 p.m. at St Thomas Church.
