Opinion: Animals Over People If HUD Cuts Erie County Funds
In Our Opinion the federal move to deny urban renewal funds over incomplete county consent would show a preference for animals over people. HUD recently granted 60,850 to expand an animal survival center and aquarium, amid threats to withhold Corry’s Fourth Ward urban renewal funds if 100 percent county approval is not achieved. If HUD then approves 66,850 for stray animal welfare and a fish school, it risks dictatorial pressure by money, as most counties back the Regional Planning Commission but not all.
