Corry Driver Cited Three Times In Wee Hours Spree

Richard Pitts aged 53 of 530 Concord Street faced three traffic citations after a 3:15 a.m. spree along South Center Street. Local Girl, 16 Escapes Serious Injury in Crash

Corry girl Kay M Sorenson, 16, drove an auto on the Corry Beaverdam road and overturned. She was taken to Corry Memorial Hospital, examined, and released with slight head injuries. Police noted about 1800 dollars damage and said the investigation was ongoing. Also reported editor Risken, 67, died in Butte, Montana.

Stevenson Visits Bolivia Amid Uruguayan Talks

Backfire Starts Fire At Merry Farm Hay Barn

A tractor backfired last night at the Lyle Merry farm on West Columbus Avenue. Firemen from Engine 3 and Emergency Truck with 25 volunteers arrived at 8 15 PM to extinguish a blaze that damaged the barn and tractor, each costing about 100 dollars. James Merry, the farmer's son, went into the barn to start the tractor when it backfired and sent sparks into a hay pile. Units returned to station by 9 PM.

Car Kills Cow on Sample Plats Road Near Corry

Frank G. Mackn, 41, of RD 2 Corry, struck a cow on Sample Plats road east of Corry shortly after 7 last night. The car was going toward Garry when the animal appeared on the road. Police say the cow died from the collision and the driver was unhurt. The animal was owned by Donald Walters of RD Corry. Damages to the car were estimated at 150 dollars. a boy driving a herd of cows was also suspected.

Federal bid to intervene in Prince Edward County case denied

The Kennedy led effort to let the federal government join as a plaintiff in the Prince Edward County desegregation case was rejected on grounds it unduly prejudices federal rights.
