GE announces $9 million rail contracts with South American lines
General Electric officials disclosed two locomotives and car equipment contracts totaling $9,000,000 with Chilean State Railways and Santosa Jundial Railway for Brazil. The firm will hire about 200 additional skilled workers immediately to support a staff of roughly 1,000 in the Land division, per John M. Scarlett, manager of the department's employer relations section.
