Lakewood village officials defer action after a public hearing on a petition to raise the speed limit to 85 miles per hour along a ½ mile stretch. The hearing drew a cross section of irate residents and prompted officials to study the proposal before deciding.

In Jamestown anxious husbands urged police to aid as a Western New York alert went out for two young women identified as Mrs Pauline Mutley and Mrs Doris Carlson of Sinclairville. A separate note mentions a reward at the Titusville Country Club where a five year old caddie found a handbag with $50,000 in jewels and a gold wristwatch engraved to The Reynolds of Titusville.
