Special Diet Cuts 7 Pounds Weekly
Cleveland article reports Mount Sinai Hospital using a special diet supplement allowing patients to lose up to seven pounds weekly. A patient dropped from 565 to 244 pounds in a year on the program of powdered protein and glucose with diet soda coffee or water. More than 200 patients enrolled with a waiting list, the hospital cites obesity as a factor in high blood pressure gall bladder disease arthritis and vascular disease. In Panama, the National Guard plans to shut 14 brothels and convert them into apartment buildings to ease housing shortages.

In Pittsburgh the Weather Underground claimed responsibility for a sudden incident that tore through Gulf Oil Corp headquarters on the 29th floor, causing extensive damage but injuring no one. An unknown caller warned of a hazardous device seconds before the blast, trapping seven responders in an elevator and prompting a large-scale investigation.

Vivian Bailey recalls 1914 to 1920 life at Trimms School Eldred Township. A night intruder slept on a recitation bench after lighting the fire a neighbor group checked him and the day’s routine continued. Water was carried from the Brightman home and smallpox vaccination campaign led by Dr Page vaccinated many Trimms children.

An Erie youth aged 16 and previously pleading guilty to the mugging murder of Carolyn Torrance on January 22 was sentenced by Judge Lindley R. McClelland to an indefinite term at Camp Hill juvenile correction facility Cumberland County. The term may last up to six years and reflects consideration of his age.
