Court Rule May Upset Junk Ordinance
Harborcreek Township faces a possible overhaul of its anti junkyard ordinance after the State Superior Court reversed the conviction of Raymond Christopher for violation of the junkyard law. Christopher’s defeat at Quarter Sessions was overturned on appeal in February, with arguments in Pittsburgh April 8 suggesting the court may deem part of the code unconstitutional, potentially affecting four to five similar cases. Judge Elmer Evans previously upheld the Harborcreek operator’s conviction in local court.
