Their son Thomas Slattery 21 was the driver. the elder Slattery tried to pull clear as the trolley crashed into the car. The motorman testified he blew a whistle but the youth did not hear it. the car was split in two. The tragedy occurred as the family was returning from Troy toward Pittsfield The officials are investigating the sequence of events with the Marion Street line.
