Radar Okay For Pa highways court rules
Pennsylvania Supreme Court sustains radar speed enforcement on highways. Bartley, caught in a line of five trucks on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Sept. 17, 1962, loses his appeal arguing radar clocking was unreliable and that the troopers could not identify his truck as the speeding vehicle. Justice Cohen upholds radar use and rejects the quarter mile requirement as intended for pursuing police. Roberts concurs. Musmanno dissents, questioning assigning speeding to a single vehicle within multiple radar targets.
