Diabetes is a disease of the internal glands especially the pancreas caused by the body's inability to use all intake of starch and sugar. Normally starches are converted to sugar and insulin helps burn it in muscles. Excess sugar is stored in the liver and released as needed. Diabetes is not curable but with proper treatment diabetics can lead normal lives. Many cases can be treated by careful diet alone and others by diet and prescribed insulin.

O Brien's plan to open an eight turkey farm on upper Peach Street, arguing health risks and noise. Defenders led by William Knox deny nuisance claims, noting a nearby existing turkey farm and nearby odors from a swamp and sewage drain could cause odor issues and attract flies.
