Farmers Warned Over Post-Dated Checks Nationwide Purchases
Harrisburg reports farmers and poultry men warned after complaints that post-dated checks from out-of-state buyers for produce and baby chicks were worthless. James L. States, acting director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Markets, cautioned against extending credit to out-of-state buyers without preliminary investigation. He noted a post-dated check is only a promise to pay, and Pennsylvania farmers are protected when dealing with PA dealers under the state licensing and bonding law.
