County Valuations Forecast After 100 Percent Base
County commissioners expect a sharp rise in the 1937 assessment as the triennial count will use full one hundred percent value rather than the 80 percent and 34 percent bases of prior years. In 1934 total assessments neared $128.9 million with Erie city properties contributing $87.1 million. Officials say higher valuations should raise total assessments and aid equalization while tax rates may fall if revenue is maintained.
