Rocket powered ships to fuel satellite for one moon mission
An analyst estimated about 20 rocket powered ships would be needed over roughly 10 months to transport sufficient fuel to the satellite, enabling a single round trip to the Moon.
Trip To Moon Within 25 Years Says Pentagon Expert
John J. Crowley, a Defense Department missiles specialist, told the Special Libraries Association conference that humans could make a round trip to the moon within 25 years. He said rockets using known fuels could reach a man made satellite 1,015 miles above Earth, with nuclear energy as the best future propulsion. He estimated a moon rocket of 1,250 feet tall weighing about 800,000 tons, ten times the Queen Mary’s displacement.
