Barsky and 10 Aides Jailed in Contempt Case
Bar Sky and ten fellow leaders of the joint anti Fascist refugee committee were ordered jailed for six and three months respectively for contempt of Congress for failing to produce records. All must pay fines of 400 and are from New York City. They were given time to say goodbye to families before District of Columbia jail. Their attorney said the terms may be clarified after a court appearance. The defendants claimed their imprisonment served U.S. aims to bolster Fascism abroad and called themselves victims of the war program.
