D A R Chapter Met Thursday at Spartansburg
The Brokenstraw Valley Chapter of the D A R met Thursday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis in Spartansburg. Hosted by 43 members, the meeting featured remarks by Regent Mrs. J. E. Tragedy on Pennsylvanian Train: Woman Jumped to Death
Pittsburgh June 7 A passenger train of the Pennsylvania Railroad at Lewisville was the scene of a fatal jump when Betty Steinbach 48 of Pittsburgh leaped from a drawing room window as other patients were present. Her body was found along the track. Mrs Nina Wayte a nurse from Norwalk Ohio, and Helen Tennyson a former patient with ties to Philadelphia, were in the party returning to Pittsburgh. Mrs Wayte reported the death upon arriving. The incident follows a prior confinement and an attack in a moving picture theater leading to insanity adjudication. The paper lists numerous local visitors and family movements unrelated to the tragedy.
