Hunt Testifies In Ellsberg Breakin Case
Watergate figure Hunt testifies before a Los Angeles County grand jury as part of the 1971 Ellsberg psychiatrist records break-in probe. He and fellow convicted conspirators Barker and Martinez were flown from Danbury Prison to answer questions on possible copying or stealing of Ellsberg records and White House involvement. Ellsberg provided prosecutors records showing PBS agents accessed his files day before the Fielding office break-in amid a broader probe of government higher ups. Ehrlichman Colson and Krogh are expected to testify. Krogh took responsibility for directing the plumbers squad protecting leaks.

Sloan details Mitchell control of campaign money in 1971
Former Nixon campaign treasurer Hugh Sloan Jr. testified at the Watergate hearings that Atty. Gen. John Mitchell made campaign spending decisions almost a year before leaving the Justice Department. Sloan said top aides dismissed warnings of links between the campaign and Watergate and cited Liddy cash payments approved by Mitchell. Sloan connected Magruder’s spending to Mitchell and noted Stans' role as finance chairman. He described repeated pressure from Magruder and Sloan to create an approval process, and said Ehrlichman and Chapin avoided comment while Haldeman did not meet with Sloan.
