Hunger Intervened Trujillo Assassins Held Doctor Hostage

A four-man group tied to Rafael Trujillo’s assassination hid in Dr. Robert Reid Cabral’s home for four days, holding him, his wife, and infant son hostage until hunger and police fire forced two of the fugitives to die in a gym battle and the others to surrender. The captors, led by Tomas Diaz, sought a hiding place after the slaying. Diaz and accomplices later sought medical aid for gunshot wounds at Dr. Marcelino Velez’s office before moving to Reid Cabral’s residence.

Centurama Pageant to Auction 350 Corry Roles Tonight

Corry Area High School hosts the Centurama auction to assign 350 Corryites to scenes for a two hour spectacle during Centennial Week. John B. Rogers Producing Co director Bill Armitage leads the effort with 200 foot stage and pantomime dialogue via narrators. Local fraternal and civic groups bid for scene participation starting tonight, with 225 organizations invited and the public welcome.

Worker dies after aluminum block strikes Kaiser plant

Robert Clauser a 37 year old Kaiser Aluminum employee dies at Hamot Hospital after being hit by pieces from a 5000 ton hydraulic press at the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical plant. Coroner Merle Wood said death likely occurred minutes after the accident during a press adjustment. Industrial relations supervisor Thomas Brennen called it the first industrial fatality at the plant and ordered an inquiry into press operation and placement of the aluminum block. An autopsy was planned.

Jamestown Firm Wins Bid for Asphalt Emulsion Material
