U. S. Optimistic on Geneva Atom Talks Progress
Washington officials voiced cautious optimism that Geneva atomic test ban talks to reopen Monday may lead to an agreement with the Soviet Union. The talks sit as a sideshow to the broader foreign ministers meeting, which has for weeks seen denouncing positions from both sides. No immediate linkage to a summit package is expected. Negotiations paused last month during the German parley and may extend for another month, amid complex scientific and political issues.
