St Lawrence students sail windjammer cruise coastward
St Lawrence University students from Canton New York depart in late May for a week long windjammer cruise along the Atlantic coast aboard the 100 foot two masted schooner Harvery Gamage. The trip concludes their interterm course One Week Before the Mast guiding sail piloting seamanship oceanography and celestial navigation taught by DrWilliam J Ash and Dr Brian S Kirby. Members of the Deborah Circle at First United Methodist Church met at Mrs. Dale Hammerlee’s home for the June gathering. Mrs. Lucy Antrim opened with prayer, with devotions led by Mrs. Peg Nichols on “What is Faith” and scriptural readings. Eleven members worked on pads and bandages for senior homes, prompted by Mrs. Virginia Williams. A dessert was served. a subsequent picnic at Mrs. Harry Blount’s home, 6115, with Elizabeth Circle joining, was announced.

Miss Sandra Lynn Pondel married Anthony Charles Purpura Jr at St. Elizabeth's Church in Jamestown. Girl Scout Summer Camp Programs Open for Applications
Applications are being received at the Penn Lakes Girl Scouts Council office in Meadville for 12-day and four six-day sessions at Camp Birdsall Edey near Warren Pennsylvania. Programs include swimming, pottery, jewelry making, canoeing for older girls, theatre, and outdoor cooking with day camp options. Eligibility requires swimmer’s certification for canoeing, and space is limited to 16 girls for canoe trips. dates run June through August with several session choices and nearby area girls invited to participate.
