Miracle Drug From Horse Blood Sparks Fraud Trial
In Chicago, Rockford scientist Stevan Durovic faces federal charges linked to Krebiozen, a cancerdrug claimed to be from horse plasma. Winfield Foster testified that 400 nurses received antibiotic and antibody drugs in 1959 60 while five horses were used for serum orders. Five horses were inoculated, one died, others slaughtered, their remains frozen for delivery. Orders shipped to Chicago with Dr Durovic involved along with siblings and associates. Trial before Judge Julius J Hoffman resumes Monday after six weeks.
