Mystery man Grunewald fined for contempt of Congress
Henry W. Grunewald, a Washington mystery man, was fined 1000 dollars and given a suspended sentence of 99 days in jail for contempt of Congress. U.S. District Judge Alexander Holtzoff placed him on probation for one year, citing bad legal advice as a mitigating factor. The case followed revelations about his counsel’s influence on his testimony before the Ways and Means Subcommittee. A heart exam was ordered earlier to assess health impact if jailed.

Construction strike threat halts Erie Northwestern projects
About 2,500 building trades workers may paralyze multimonth programs across Erie and Northwestern Pennsylvania as Iron workers and bricklayers threaten strikes. The Erie Construction Council reports deadlocks with 12 unions over wage increases and expired contracts, with no offers made to carpenters roofers lathers and other trades. The Engineers Union remains as the only one with an active contract.
