Junior High Promotes Operetta Night for Ninth Graders
The junior high held a Tuesday evening promotion program in the gym with 143 ninth grade students in attendance. The program featured Gilbert and Sullivan’s I M S Pinafore performed under Mrs. Rice and assistant Miss Stranakin with Goleta McClintock as Buttercup and Kathie Boag as Josephine. Principal Wolfe praised the students and certificates were awarded by Superintendent Swartz as the school prepares them for Corry High School.

Eight year old killed in Erie auto crash
In Erie on June 4 an eight year old boy, Joseph Pullio Jr., was killed when a car driven by a 14 year old struck him and his brother, four, near their home. The injured boy was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in fair condition. Police investigate license irregularities and underage drivers involved in the incident.

Allen Prindle, 24, of Erie, Pa, is held in Erie County jail after an arraignment in Hamburg New York on a charge of criminal negligence while operating a vehicle resulting in death. He waived examination and extradition. The traffic incident occurred May 24 in Hamburg New York and killed Howard A. Selbert, 26, of Hamburg. He died at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Lackawanna two hours after the crash.
