Senator David A. Reed of Pennsylvania earned praise at the 129th annual commencement where Emms Menzel 22 of Wasonsville and Marion Casebeer 20 of Montpelier were found dead in a car in woods near Washington and Jefferson College. Menzel appeared strangled and shot, with two poison bottles nearby. Casebeer died by self-inflicted poison. Alumni association elected Harry G. Sloan and Harry G. McDowell to the trustees board.
