Identify Gang Victim's Body At Meadville
Police said the man found with hands bound behind his back near Meadville likely died in a gangland murder. Philip Earle Cownden, 31, from Youngstown, was identified by his wife who said he left with a man after a phone call and disappeared May 13. He had recently bought a farm near Knox, Pa, and planned to move there to raise horses. He had prior forged check conviction in Akron and a stolen vehicle charge in Boardman Township, was out on bond, and leaves a wife and two children. He appears to have been killed early last month.
