National Bank, Moose Nine Win Baseball Games
The National Bank squeezed out a 4-1-8 to 11 victory over the Ajax in a tight Teen-er League clash at Loveland Field as six pitchers saw action. Leo Pfeiffer earned the win, while Mitchell and Austin powered the Ajax with a three run triple and a grand slam for the Bankers. The Moose defeated Corry-Jamestown 8-1 to stay in the race for first half honors, as Francisco and Vanssens traded strikeouts in a high visibility Little League duel. The Moose carved runs in the third and fifth innings aided by walks and a sacrifice, with Ford adding a run in the fourth. Francisco’s shutout was broken in the sixth on a hit batsman, a passed ball, and Carroll’s single. Tonight VFW faces Bis, no Teener game, and Ajax meets Aero tomorrow at Loveland Field.
