Manila wire reports a typhoon battered steamer splitting apart within minutes. About 110 aboard are missing with 40 passengers and 20 crew saved. survivors describe panic as lifeboats and rafts were chased by heavy seas near Tayabas Province.

President Calvin Coolidge will retreat to the Risele Hills of South Dakota for a three month vacation starting in early June. He will be largely secluded fourteen miles from a railroad, two days from Chicago, and cut off from reporters with only a private telephone link and limited access to executives in Rapid City. The White House will restrict newspapermen to two miles away while official announcements come from Rapid City.

United Press reports Captain Charles Lindbergh will arrive at the Navy Yard on June 11 for a public welcome by President Coolidge.
