The Bear Lake postmaster bid battled through years of letters and reversals. J Byrne and Sen Clark aides backed Moore, but a signed letter misattribution triggered a chain of refusals. The 1966 Post Office reply warned the nomination could be withdrawn, leading to a formal protest from Mrs Moore and a final brush off.

Warren County shows a concentration of postal wrangling while Erie County has only one acting postmaster, at Union City, per a Journal survey. The paper awaits replies from Sen Clark, Sen Hugh Scott, Rep Johnson, the Civil Service commission, Clark’s assistant Byrne, and the Post Office Department.
