Burgettstown residents James D. Lewis and Ferdinand Mendex were fined $75 each after a high speed drag race along Route 17 by Chautauqua Lake. A violent storm swept through Corry last night with nearly two inches of rain and rainfall damage. Power lines failed on East Smith Street causing blackouts in several wards and two substations were knocked out by lightning. The storm also cut about 130 telephone lines in the East Smith Street area as crews worked to restore service through the night.
