Homeowners in Corry Section retained lawyer William Peiffer to seek a court injunction to stop Corry Instrument Co. from using the Washington School site. A nucleus group claimed 19 property owners signed a petition to block the zoning move and pursue legal action.
Corry Instrument Co informed the Corry School Board it will not pursue use or purchase of the Washington School property. The firm cited limited manufacturing possibilities and neighbor objections, saying they will seek other sites for mainly wood working operations.

Water from the First Fork of Sinnemahoning Creek will be diverted on August 16 into a 1,200 foot tunnel in Cameron County to close a gap in the breastwork of a mood control dam under construction about 25 miles west of Renova. Dr Robert Mc Whirter described a xenon splix-ray surgery for breast cancer that avoids major tissue removal and shows about half of early treated patients surviving five years. Dr Jeanne Bateman reported bioTRPA drug producing temporary good results in ovarian breast and brain cancers, with many patients returning to months of active life.
James Thomas Rove, 15, is charged with second degree murder in the death of 66 year old George Banks Hooks from head injuries. State Police Officer Quentin Cooper presented the charge before Justice Oucar Brush. a hearing date will be set later. The two admitted striking Hooks during an argument last weekend near Grenville Run Hollow, in the dead man’s daughter Beatrice Carols home area.
Washington wires report the Communications Commission approved WENS Channel 16 in Pittsburgh to move to Channel 4. WER contends the change would cause major harm to its operations and a TV event dispute ensues.
