Jamestown Renewal Advance Approved for Urban Project

Jamestown city officials announced a $174 606 federal advance from HUD for survey and planning of a 4.8 million urban renewal project. The funds will support industrial expansion along the Chadakoin River corridor and demolition of substandard housing in Brooklyn, with further loans and grants anticipated. Mayor Dunn said work will start immediately under Kendree and Shepard, the consulting firm hired last fall.

PUC approves Miniflight service Pittsburgh to Erie

The State Public Utility Commission authorized Miller Aviation Center to operate small passenger and freight flights from Allegheny County Airport to Erie and Johnstown with intermediate stops at Latrobe and Meadville. Service is slated to begin mid August, Miller said, after meetings with the Erie Chamber of Commerce to gauge business demand. Protests from Allegheny Airlines and Lake Beatle had been filed, and through service was withdrawn.
