Ferguson's subcommittee continued its preliminary inquiry into Hughes Hollywood financier as Brewster accuses political pressure to halt the investigation. Secretary Krug says he is being treated as a victim of a swindle of the grossest kind.
In a formal statement Krug says he did not attend three events John Meyer allegedly listed as Krug entertainment expenditures. At Detroit last night Krug dismissed reports of lavish parties tied to the Hughes Kaiser contract as Hollywood ballyhoo. He noted the contract predates his 1944 War Production Board chairmanship, while Ferguson said Krug later signed an order releasing 1.5 million dollars to continue Hughes contract operations.
