Governor Pinchot on Harrisburg plan for industrial code
The governor champions Roosevelt’s industrial recovery code for Pennsylvania. He outlines the rules: forty hour weeks for white collar workers, thirty six for merchant labor until December 4 1934, eight hour days, minimum wages varying by city, child labor limits, and price controls. He stresses purchasing power as essential and calls for 100 percent code acceptance with public opinion backing enforcement.
