In Havana the Swiss Embassy sought to arrange the Miami return of passengers and crew from a hijacked US airliner but progress stalled as Cuba marked Fidel Castro’s revolution anniversary. The Electra jet carried 33 passengers and five crew on a Miami to Tampa route when a hijacker forced a landing in Havana. Authorities said Castro had no objections to return once arrangements could be made, but government offices were closed for the celebration. The gunman’s identity and the plane’s ultimate disposition remained unclear. One passenger, Luis Rodriguez, a welterweight contender, was en route to Dallas for a Thursday bout with Curtis Cokes. Lou Rossin becomes owner of Al’s Clothes Shop at 47 North Center Street after 17 years under previous management. Store will keep existing men’s lines with new brands added, maintaining prior policies. The site has long been a leading men’s outfitter, dating back to 1034 when Morris Bernstein opened it. The shop will now be known as Rossin’s.
