FAA investigated gas starvation and fog as causes. police said the plane pitched into an abandoned building and nearly hit a car on Route 481.

A 19 year old Corry motorist, David Hillstrom of Mead Avenue, crashed into a house on the Corry Clymer road after failing to negotiate a curve on Route 321. He escaped serious injury as Mrs. Wilbur Camp of RD 4 Corry and her husband were briefly treated at home. damage to the residence and car was extensive. The incident occurred around 1 am as Camp and his wife awoke sick and later found the living room in ruins with the car beneath a smashed window. The driver was helped from the vehicle and treated on the scene for a facial laceration. Mrs. Camp was treated by her physician for illness. Further details continued on Page Three.
A Corry area weekend report outlines multiple auto crashes. Thorn ton Boutwell, 16, escaped injury when his car struck a utility pole on Route 89 north of Titusville, $600 damage. Donald Nichols, 17, Grand Valley, collided with another car. $85 damage. The major crash south of Union City involved Duane E. Armstrong, 22, Guy Mills, Donald Carr, 54, Erie, and Kenneth Muccitelli, 36, Altoona, causing serious injuries to Armstrong and about $3,700 total vehicle damage. Armstrong faced reckless driving charges.
CHICAGO AP New York’s large delegation under Gov Nelson Rockefeller prepared to push a platform fight with Vice President Nixon as the convention neared. Rockefeller delayed naming a nominee while meeting Montana Wyoming New Mexico and Illinois delegations to keep draft hopes alive, though aides indicated real support for a Rockefeller draft was unlikely. The Rockefeller camp contends with platform concessions and maintains openness to a draft, despite Nixon's clear gains.
Pennsylvania's 70 vote delegation entered the Republican convention scene with hopes to influence Nixon's vice presidential pick. They expect a closed session Tuesday where Nixon will speak and share possible running mates, while rejecting a request from Harold Stassen to invite Nelson Rockefeller to address the group.

A South Center street proprietor, Sr. J. Consolo of Consolo's Variety Store, detained two youths caught shoplifting. The boys confessed and implicated others. Frank Carnegie, who led the investigation, planned further questioning and a full list of stolen items. The incident ends a quiet period of shoplifting in the city.
Four masked gunmen slugged night watchman Wilton A. Low at Waldameer Amusement Park in Erie and escaped with about $3,500 from two safes in the park office. Low, 62, bound and gagged, had just finished a park rounds when attacked. Erie Morning News distributor David Colburn reportedly drew the suspects away, prompting a call to Mill Creek Township police who found Low in the ballroom and the safes ransacked about 50 yards away.
Harrisburg report shows Pennsylvania Turnpike safety improving from 1959 to 1960 through July 21. Fifty people killed so far this year, compared with ninety three in the same period of 1959. Two major fatalities occurred including a Blue Mountain tunnel crash last Tuesday with three killed.
A $25,000 mire destroyed the barn and hay crop of Paul Kundracik on East Columbus avenue and rekindled at 7 p.m. Saturday drawing Engines 2 and 3 back to the scene. Loss of hay stands at $5,000 and firemen also checked to keep the blaze from the Kundrack home and milk house nearby. Earlier at 1:30 p.m. Engine 2 fought a car fire at Jordan's used car agency. Phyllis Curry's car burned due to an electrical short with damage about $29.
New Delhi reports China appoints Chang Sih chek as ambassador to Nepal, the first accredited solely to Nepal. He previously served as the Chinese representative on the Joint Chinese Nepali border commission and helped open China’s embassy in Kathmandu two weeks ago.
