A Corry car and a Spartansburg vehicle collided near Wayne and East Irving streets during a rain, causing $450 in damages. EB McClintock driving north turned onto Irving and struck John Bolan who was traveling south. Bolan’s daughter Rose Ann, two and a half, was unharmed. Police say Bolan’s car skidded 57 feet. CHICAGO AP A New Jersey socialite heiress Jacqueline Gay Hart 21 admitted her kidnap tale from Newark airport to Chicago and release as “too hot” was a hoax. Her father Ralph A Hart and an FBI agent questioned her as authorities checked the inconsistent story and noted minimal injuries. Hart plans return to Short Hills New Jersey with fiancé Stanley Gaines 25 as doctors treat her for nervous exhaustion.
In Stoten ABIusil, Texas, four radium needles described as dangerous as an atomic explosion were reported stolen from Doctor So Estes. The needles, about three-fourths inch long, were kept in a lead box inside a 600-pound safe and cost 1040 dollars each. Police fear the burglars may discard them where children could find them. In the same report, 70 year old Associated Press newspaperman David Fernster died in Washington.
Geneva AP report says Secretary of State Christian Herter could propose a long recess of the Big Four conference next week if the Soviet Union does not soften terms on easing the Berlin crisis. Western and Soviet allies face opposition as talks enter their ninth week with Gromyko staying on through the weekend.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that private contracts and management policies cannot waive an employee's right to unemployment compensation. In three opinions by Justice Cohen, the court overruled the Superior Court in favor of claimants, including a 68 year old involuntarily pensioned worker and a woman fired in pregnancy, with a third case on failure to rehire after a strike.
Mc Keesport boy Bobby Morgan aged 7 died at Brad dock General Hospital after a car struck him and his sister Mary Jean was critically injured. The siblings darted from in front of their grandmother’s home where they were visiting. driver Frank Shemko of Pittsburgh remained at the scene.
Andrew Sabot will start demolition on Monday in Union City for the three stores on North Center Street. H Martin Keppel of the National Bank of Corry confirmed Sabot won the contract to remove the structures the bank bought months ago. The former TV Davis radio and appliance store, the Ellis 2. Day outlet, and the Ford garage are set for removal, with a 90 day tear-down window but plans suggest faster completion.

Three men suffered burns in an explosion at the Brackenridge Works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp in Tarentum, Allegheny Valley. Injured workers Rudy Valentic of Oakmont, John Galuck, and Joseph Karns of Slickville were listed in fair condition at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Cause remained undetermined as they worked on a new Allegheny River intake outside the plant.
A three car pileup on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Beaver Falls killed two people and injured eight others. Victims identified include Marty McCreaky 50 of Maria Pennsylvania driver of one car and Anthony Morelli 42 of the Bronx NY driver of another. Wallace Downer 38 of Brooklyn is in critical condition as a passenger in the Morelli car. Also hospitalized with less serious injuries were James Wheeler 36 his wife North 33 their two sons James 9 and George 6 and daughters Joyce 13 and Cindy 4 plus niece Jenny Howell 14 of Canton Ohio. Wheeler driver of the third car. State Police and motel officials investigated as the McCready auto crossed the median and struck Morelli and Wheeler vehicles.
