Mrs Richard Peebles and her 14 month old daughter Sheridan Lee Peebles of 121849 Ninth Center Street suffered injuries in a two car crash at Columbus Avenue and North Center Street at 12 30 PM. Mrs Peebles may have serious back injuries. the baby escaped with a forehead abrasion and was to be discharged. Mrs Hazel Huntingdon of Tidioute operated the Jeep and faces possible charges for failing to stop and reckless driving.
Associated Press dispatch from Indianapolis reports police recaptured two of four handcuffed escapees within a short time. The men allegedly shoved deputies, escaped in a station wagon, and were later found in a taxi about 30 blocks away near downtown. The station wagon was abandoned in the southwest city area. The two captured are Gilbert Hlaath Waller Becrist, 28, Indianapolis, linked to escaping and jail theft. Willie Carter, 25, and Jack Brown, 27, Todtumapotis, both identified as other escapees.

A two year old boy, William Henton, drowned in a wash tub on the Centerville area farm of Mr and Mrs Marvey Henton. Resuscitation attempts by Neil Stranslan and the Spartanshine Tire Department were unsuccessful. The family recently moved to Archie Phillips farm and had just begun restoring the home with Red Cross aid and charity help when the tragedy occurred.
