At Wilkes Barre on July 2 United Mine Workers of America met amid vociferous attacks on state police during debates. Delegates urged removal of the law creating the constabulary as hostile to miners and organized labor, denouncing police actions as partisan. George W Kinney of 16 Maple Street was struck by an express train on Nov 13 while near the passenger station. He sustained brain injury, a fractured shoulder, and head wounds, was taken to Cary Hospital, with doctors hoping for improvement later in the day.

Edwin Wilson a 30 year old former aviator who faced murder charges and a trial next week escaped from Fairview State Hospital for the criminally insane near Scranton. Police and county officials search Wayne County as Wilson fled after leaving through a manhole. Wilson had been committed after arrest in Philadelphia on auto theft charges and had recently sought release.
In Shenfield on July 21 a three year old child, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Parry, was killed crossing Philadelphia and Erie tracks as a train from Erie passed. The body lay beside the rails until the train moved on. she died minutes later. Mia Freeland and Mrs Shaver of DuBois visited here today after a Buffalo trip.
Po Askories & Company, owners of Olympia Confectionery and Kriey Image ice cream parlors, lease the Cohen teddy wear space at Center and Washington and plan a confectionery opening around September. Towing of the storeroom was completed and the firm will move in after September, with a formal opening likely around the 3rd. The Olympia confectionery remains at its corner location, while the current ready to wear department will be remodeled inside the block. Plans by N Cy John & Son for the city store anticipate a September opening.
Jamestown Post reports two Black men were arrested in connection with a shooting in Jamestown. Sergeant James M. Quinlan stated there was no warrant for more suspects. the two were released. Corry yard workers and Erie Railroad officers later detained a Black man named Webster Thomas, eighteen, from Ridgway, who was brought to Corry for resisting an officer and fare evasion.
