Supervisors Say No Authority to Curb Lake Pollution
Chautauqua County officials state there is no legal means for the county to enforce health and sanitation laws or fund lake pollution studies. Board chairman Hall R. Clothier and county attorney Allen A. Cass said enforcement lies with town health boards and the state health department. They stressed willingness to cooperate with local authorities in addressing the lake problems.
