Colonial House Found After 20 Year Search

Arnold Skromme and his wife plan to dismantle a 217-year-old 1758 Dame family house in New Hampshire and ship it to Illinois piece by piece for a life-long collection. With six students, a son, and a neighbor, they mark each part as the project costs between 50 000 and 100 000 dollars. The house has no electricity water or plumbing and relied on six fireplaces. Local historians say it was built by Jabez Dame on land bought by his father. It will leave only the granite foundation timber from 1842 and the six fire place chimney.

Doctor Attraction Bill OK'd In House

Harrisburg AP A plan to attract more doctors to rural and low income city practices cleared the Pennsylvania House 159 to 83. The bill would require state medical schools to reserve 20 percent of subsidies for loan programs repaid if graduates practice in designated medically deprived areas for five years. Rep Bill Shane warned tuition would rise by about 1500 at state related schools and 900 at private colleges, with loans covering increases. A companion bill on municipal medical service boards was delayed over constitutional concerns.
